1 Darmi or Darbhi was the name of an ancient hermit, the story of whom was mentioned in the sacred text of the Mahabharata and other scriptures.

2 Darbhi had built a Tirtha named Ardhakila in Kurukshetra on the Sangama (junction) of the rivers Saraswati and Aruna.

3 Darbhi was believed to be a generous saint who was compassionate towards everything in the world.

4 It occurs in the scriptures that long ago, Darbhi felt the empathy for Brahmins and Dharmic people and which is why he brought the four sacred oceans together and created the town of Ardhakila.

5 Within the sacred list pilgrimage sites, Ardhakila is credited as the one that helps in earning merits and purging the sins.

6 It is said that one who bathes in Ardhakila will never face troubles in the afterlife and can earn the high merits.

7 It is believed that the sacred grass of Darba that is used during the ceremonial rites was named after Darbhi.
